The collaboration between E-Bay and Facebook and the integration of its services through the Open Graph is a good idea in personalizing the E-Bay system of online commerce. However, I find that this article does not criticize this collaboration. Indeed, the article clearly mentions the fact that the Open Graph service allows to make the inventory of all the data shared thought Facebook by the users. Hence, E-Bay is using confidential information from users who share them on Facebook for commercial reasons. The question that must be raised is: how far is this collaboration legitime? Where does the privacy of Facebook users go? In class, we talked about different types of integration, this one is only a partnership but too often partnerships do not take into consideration the well being of citizens.

  1. Kawtar,
Could you please title your posts and post the link of the article in the body of the text, such as in the examples on the class website?
The question I would like to ask is what is the interest of e-bay and FB in this type of partnership, economically speaking?

  2. Facebook and e-bay have many economic advantages in having this type of partnership.

The first one is less expenditures. Indeed, since both companies have a central management and a central communication system, it is cheaper to use.

The second advantage is a higher quality. This is coming from the fact that both companies have a common quality control system

The third one is their ability to monopolize the market. Both Facebook and e-bay are famous. A partnership can only enhance their importance within the market.

To sum up, although this partnership has many drawbacks when it comes to the privacy of the users, it has obvious economic advantages.
